E-Bike Range Calculator

Estimate how far an e-bike can go on one charge.

Estimate how far an e-bike can go on one charge. It uses the battery energy (Ah × V = Wh), how much assist you use, the ground you ride and the weight on board. Everything is worked out in your browser. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

1. Your battery

The voltage and amp-hours are usually printed on the battery or in the manual.

Use less than 100 for an older battery.

2. How you ride

A guess is fine. Assist level makes the biggest difference.

Sets the base energy use in Wh per km.

How it was worked out

What this does and doesn't tell you

    • This is a rough estimate. Wind, stop-start riding, tyre pressure, cold weather and the bike itself all change it.
    • It keeps 10% of the battery in reserve, so you're not riding home on a flat battery.
    • The energy use figures are typical for pedal-assist e-bikes. Your bike's display may show its own Wh per km once you've ridden it a while. Use that if you have it.
    • Lithium-ion batteries can overheat and catch fire if they're damaged or charged on the wrong charger. Only use the maker's charger, and stop using any battery that is swollen, burnt, leaking or crushed.
